Leaving my career

In 2019, when the whole fiasco with the promotions happened, I decided to leave the company I was working for. I accomplished one of the key items on my bucket list here. So, the decision to leave was not that easy.

After mulling this over, I decided that to sail the world, I would need to take substantial time off work. Hence, I had no choice but to leave. Financially, that would be a bummer, but I knew I had to plan my exit.

As with all sane persons, leaving brought about a lot of self-doubt, which is quite normal. However, the push factor from the company was strong enough for me to overcome this self-doubt. A date for departure was set for 2022, giving me time to plan and execute it.

Then, the world was hit by COVID-19, the greatest scare tactic since Y2K. I know there will be a lot of flak for this statement, but we are all entitled to our own opinions. Most countries in the Indian Ocean only started opening up in 2022, and then I decided to defer the departure to 2023. In the interim, I took up a posting as an advisor in an Indonesian Company. After remaining there for a short 6-month stint, it was time to plan for my GREATEST achievement, The Voyage of Destiny.
