The Plan

In 2019, an incident in the company I worked for was the required push I needed to have to leave.

I was jumped over for promotion and hence my illusion of becoming a CEO diminished. Later, I would realise this was one of the catalyst to leave and search for more meaning in my life. We all , at one point or another will have times when come to situations like this.

Most people do not act on it, or just merely decide to move on from where they are. For me , I decided , I will leave the oil palm sector. This has been the industry I was employed for more than 2 decades. Not an easy thing to do!

If I left, what am I to do?

I had mortgages, I had two kids to educate. What can I do?

The fragility of life scenario told me that, with time not on my side, I will have to find a way to fulfil my bucket list of things to do.

Its 2019, I had contemplated the sailing bit. A million and one questions circulated in my mind. Besides the obvious ones above, and about funding the trip. At this time, I decided and since the majority of the upgrades were already done in 2017 and in 2019, I thought,” yes, I could do this!”

At this juncture came about the how do I proceed?

Having just completed the largest project of my professional career, I knew those skills would be of great help. This too, in hindsight has been such that the universe has a plan for me.

One of the first things one reads about planning for these types of activities is

1)      Fix a date

2)      The route

3)      Essentials on Destiny

4)      The cost

5)      Support structure especially in the sailing or circumnavigation aspect
